Capture Window to file (png)
Cmd+shift+4 and then press Space and then click window. The png file is created on your desktop.
About capture to clipboard
When capturing to clipboard using shift+ctrl+cmd+4 (eventually +space for full window capture), the pasted image (e.g. paste into Mail) becomes a TIFF image, which few windows installations understand. A workaround is of cause to use capture to file (png) and then import / DnD into document. Another option is to change the default clip-board capture format to png, by issuing the following command in the terminal:
